Workplace Conferencing - 2 Day Workshop

Workplace Conferencing is an Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) tool used to help units and sections that are becoming almost dysfunctional as a result of internal problems caused by differences in employee / supervisor and management perceptions. This workshop is suited for employees who have a desire to help resolve problems in their units, sections and branches. WPC is most effective when conducted by a two or three person team.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with an:

  1. Understanding the origins of workplace conflict.
  2. Understanding of employee/management roles in the Dispute Resolution System, and
  3. Understanding of the elements and steps in an interest-based approach to resolving conflict in the workplace collaboratively.

INTENDED LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the origins of workplace conflict
  • Identify the characteristics of conflict
  • Recognize different styles of handling conflict
  • Understand the interest-based mechanisms in the Dispute Resolution Process
  • Understand the different roles in the prevention and resolution of conflict in the workplace
  • Understand some tips for dealing with difficult people
  • Understand a process for conflict resolution from an interest based perspective
  • Understand the stages of a WPC.
